Favorite (tie): The Blind Assassin and A Thousand Acres
These two books were very different, but at their cores, they both strike at the idea of sisterhood in an insightful way. I like both Atwood’s and Smiley’s writing styles and found their novels compelling.
Least favorite: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
I wanted very badly to like this book, but I just…didn’t. I didn’t think most of the additions were clever or provocative enough to warrant the sorts of praise I’ve heard heaped upon this mash-up.
